Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig Sept. 21, 1983) is an acclaimed American actress. She is most famously known for her role appeared as Shannon Rutherford from ABC's Lost TV show and Kim Mills for the Taken Trilogy. Her birthplace was Worthington in Ohio. She dropped out of school after her parents divorced to go in Los Angeles to live with her mother. The actress landed her first part as Rachel's Room's title character, in 2001 despite struggling with finances. The TV film Murder in Greenwich, in which she played a 15-year-old Martha Moxley earned her the nomination of a Young Artist Award. Grace Rutherford was the main actress on Lost during its initial two seasons. In 2004 she received the Screen Actors Guild Award with all the cast. Grace was a co-star with Tom Welling on The Fog in the year 2005, was looking to go into the world of film. The actress has also appeared on Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club as well in 2007 and in Taken alongside Liam Neeson in 2008 as Kim Mills. She played the same role in Taken 2 and Taken 3 (both in 2012). Grace was Shannon on the finale episode, as well as two additional episodes. The year 2013 saw Grace appear in the episode Californianation of the 6th season. She plays Faith she is an admirer and muse to the actors. Part of the Gyllenhaal family she is the child of filmmakers Stephen Gyllenhaal and Naomi Achs and is the younger sibling of actor Jake Gyllenhaal. When she was a teenager her career began on small roles with her father and appeared in Donnie Darko along with her sister. The year 2002 saw her starred as a character in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. Also, she appeared on Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal won critical praise for her performance as the lead of Secretary (2002), an erotic romance drama drama and Sherrybaby (2006). In 2006, she was also nominated by The Golden Globe Award. In 2006, she starred in several commercially successful movies including World Trade Center. However it was her performance as Rachel Dawes that brought her wider attention in The Dark Knight (2008). As the single mom in Crazy Heart (2009) she was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. In the following years, she appeared in dramatics and comedies: Nanny McPhee and The Big Bang (2010) Hysteria (2011) and The Won't Back Down (2012). Her other roles included Secret Service agents in White House Down (2013, action thriller) and musicians in Frank (2014 and drama The Kindergarten Teacher 2018), and her role as the Kindergarten Teacher. Gyllenhaal wrote and directed her first film, The Lost Daughter in 2021. The drama about psychological issues won the Best Screenplay Award from the Venice International Film Festival. The film was also nominated for be awarded the Academy Award of Best Adapted Screenplay.
